Alumina ceramic balls are a type of spherical ceramic material made from industrial alumina (Al₂O₃) as the main raw material, along with an appropriate amount of sintering additives. They are formed through molding and then subjected to high-temperature firing, resulting in a material with high chemical stability and mechanical strength.
Properties (directly related to the content of alumina)
- High hardness and wear resistance: Mohs hardness can reach level 9, second only to diamond, with excellent wear resistance.
- High strength: High compressive strength, capable of withstanding extremely high bed layer pressure and impact force.
- Excellent chemical inertness: Resistant to corrosion by acids, alkalis, salts and various organic solvents, with good chemical stability.
- Excellent thermal stability: Resistant to high temperatures, with a high melting point (2050℃), small thermal expansion coefficient, and capable of operating in high-temperature and rapid cooling and heating environments.
- Low adsorption: Smooth surface, low porosity, does not adsorb materials.
- Good insulation performance: Has excellent electrical insulation properties.
Application fields:
- As a grinding medium:
Used in the coating and ink industries, for grinding titanium dioxide, pigments, etc., to avoid metal contamination.
Used in the electronic ceramics industry for grinding powders such as zirconia and piezoelectric ceramics.
Used in the pharmaceutical and food industries, it is suitable for grinding raw materials that have strict requirements for metal ions.
Used in the magnetic materials industry, for the fine grinding of ferrite and other materials. - As a catalyst carrier and inert filler :
Petrochemical industry: Acting as an inert filler to support and protect the catalyst; serving as a carrier to directly load the active catalytic components.
Environmental protection industry: As a support or carrier for catalysts in exhaust gas treatment towers.
Gas purification: As the support and covering material for the drying agent in gas drying and hydrogen production devices. - As advanced refractory and structural materials :
High-temperature kiln: Used as support balls for rods and as insulation filling balls.
Mechanical components: Mechanical sealing rings used for manufacturing chemical pumps, as well as valve assemblies that are resistant to wear and corrosion.
